#20 - Why you should MEDITATE?

Meditation can also help us to understand our own mind. We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. Many people suffer from negativity within their mind and this is often a result of not being ‘present to the moment’. What is meant by this is that we dwell on the past or worry about the future rather than focusing on the here and now.
“If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.”
Meditation trains you to remain focused and undisturbed by thoughts by letting them come and go. For me, meditation starts the day off to a great start and puts me in an nonreactive, level headed state of mind. It can also be done at the end of a long, stressful day and can act as a ‘reset’ switch for your brain. Meditation has many benefits however most of the people are not aware of all the benefits. Below are some of the benefits of mediation in different areas.
On a physical level, meditation:
Lowers high blood pressure
Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
Decreases any tension-related pain, such as tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
Improves the immune system
Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy
Spiritual benefits of meditation
Meditation doesn’t have a religion and can be practiced by anybody regardless of the faith they follow.
Effortless transition from being something to merging with the infinite and recognizing yourself as an inseparable part of the whole cosmos
In a meditative state, you are in a space of vastness, calmness, and joy and this is what you emit into the environment, bringing harmony to the Creation/planet.
Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. As you learn more about yourself, you’ll naturally start discovering more about yourself.

I have understood in my journey so far that Meditation makes you aware that your inner attitude determines your happiness.
